ScanJunki

The short answer

ScanJunki is a free barcode scanning app for eBay resellers, built by Scott Fensome, founder of Robert Scotts Commerce. Scan any UPC, EAN or ISBN barcode and it shows the live eBay price, the exact eBay fee for that category and the profit before you buy. It runs on iPhone, Android and in the browser, and works on eBay UK, US, Germany, Australia, France and Canada.

Free to start, no card needed. Also runs in any browser at scanjunki.com.

What it does

Point the camera at a barcode and ScanJunki looks the product up on eBay, shows what it is selling for, takes off the fee eBay would charge for that category and tells you the profit. The whole thing takes a couple of seconds, which is the difference between checking every item on a shelf and guessing at the ones that look promising.

  • Barcode scan by camera, or type the number in by hand
  • Live eBay prices for the product you are holding
  • Fees by category, so electronics and homewares are not treated the same
  • Private or business seller setting, because the fee rules differ
  • The UK and EU regulatory fee and the per order fee included
  • Sold quantity data when you link your own eBay account
  • Scan history, favourites and lists that sync across your devices

Why the fee matters

Most sourcing tools show a price. The number a reseller needs is what is left after eBay takes its cut, and that cut is not one figure. It changes by category, by whether you sell as a private or business seller, by country, and it carries a regulatory fee and a per order fee on top. ScanJunki carries the 2026 eBay fee schedules for the UK, US, Germany and Australia with all of that built in, so the profit on screen is the profit you would bank.

Where it came from

Scott Fensome started reselling in 2020 and now runs Robert Scotts Commerce, a 30 person operation selling live on eBay UK every day. Checking what stock is worth is daily work for a team like that. ScanJunki is the tool for it, built in house and released for other resellers through SCANJUNKI LTD, a separate company registered in England and Wales, number 17235958. Read more about the operation on the about page.

Seller tools on desktop

In August 2026 ScanJunki added a Seller Suite on desktop for anyone with an eBay account linked. The first tools are a stagnant listing report, every fixed price listing with no sales in the last ninety days alongside its views, watchers and stock value, and buyer screening, which flags buyers with a high cancellation or refund rate across your orders. The public roadmap is on scanjunki.com.
